In years past, students from all over the United States have made Washington State University more than just a name to them and participated in events on campus. We hope you will consider the opportunities and information listed below to do so also. DDP Cougar Campus Experience (CCE)

A picture speaks a thousand words . . . Check out pictures from past events, including Cougar Campus Experience (Events).

Each year, ASWSU-DDP (Associated Students of Washington State University-Distance Degree Programs) hosts the Cougar Campus Experience for all current and prospective students, alumni, and their friends and family on the Pullman campus. Participants are encouraged to attend to have some fun, expand their academic horizons, meet DDP peers, visit faculty, and bond with their university.

A wide variety of activities are planned each year and the Cougar Campus Experience Web site (Cougar Campus Experience) is updated to include information about the upcoming event, such as the schedule, description of academic seminars offered, and lodging options. All activities are informal and participants are encouraged to dress comfortably for their visit.

DDP graduate I never dreamt that I would catch the spirit, but that's what happened when I attended the Distance Degree Program's Cougar Campus Experience! It was a wonderful opportunity to see the campus, visit the bookstore, meet faculty and staff of the DDP, and come face to face with students who I knew only through voice mail. I surprised myself with the high level of enthusiasm and excitement that I felt as I experienced the vibrancy of WSU and realized that I was a part of it. I had been enrolled at WSU for two years, but did not have a real sense of connectedness to the university until that event. I would encourage all students to attend if possible.

Cougar Campus Experience was terrific. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and I really enjoyed having it on a home-game weekend. You could just feel the spirit everywhere; it helped give me a sense of identity and belonging to something big and took away some of the "I'm out here all by myself doing this" feeling that sets in now and then. I even went away with a new friend.

WSU Pullman Commencement Ceremony

Celebrate your academic achievement by bringing your family and friends to the commencement ceremonies on the Pullman campus. A detailed explanation of what you need to know about graduation and the on-campus commencement ceremony is provided in the Requirements section of this handbook (see "Graduation & Commencement Specifics").

Please review the information about "Graduation & Commencement Specifics" carefully, paying special attention to the following:
  • Notify your advisor of your intent to graduate no later than the beginning of your next-to-last semester. This is a graduation requirement; do this even if you don't plan to attend a commencement ceremony.
  • Order your cap and gown.
  • Make lodging arrangements well in advance—a year or more in advance is not unrealistic.

WSU Notes

So you can sing along...

WSU Fight Song

Fight, fight, fight for Washington State!
Win the victory.
Win the day for Crimson and Gray!
Best in the West, we know you'll all do your best,
So, on, on, on, on! Fight to the end!
Honor and glory you must win!
So, fight, fight, fight for Washington State and victory!

Washington, My Washington

Washington, My Washington
The Crimson and the Gray!
'Tis the songs of memory that we sing today.
When the sad hours come to you,
and sorrows 'round you play,
just sing the songs of Washington,
the Crimson and the Gray,
just sing the songs of Washington,
the Crimson and the Gray.
